At Kisten Palm Photography we provide customized consultations with every session. What does that mean for you? The short answer is we plan out your photography shoot in detail. In order to get amazing photos it's important to get all the details right. That includes a lot of upfront planning.

For starters we'll need to talk about hair and make up. Do you want to do it yourself or have it done for you? Do you want to hire your own or have it included in your session? It also means if it is being done at the shoot, how will you need to come prepared? We'll also need to talk about outfits. How many, what colors, what not to wear. Do you need to purchase something or borrow something?

It also means discussing hair and makeup for your furry counterpart. Yes, if your session includes a pet or equine friend they also will need to have a spa day and photo shoot preparedness. Do you need collars, halters, tack , leashes, accessories, etc? Will you need props or treat?

It will also include discussing how you want your photos to look. Will we need special props or backdrops? Will we need a special location and are there fees and permits for that location? What time of day will be best for your shoot?

What is the personality of the person or furry friend to be photographed? How will we include that in the shoot? What style do you like? Style includes colors, lighting, locations; is it candid, lifestyle, documentary or creative?

What will you use the photographs for? Will you want to display them on the wall or in an album or folio box? Will they be used on social media or in print?

All of this information and brainstorming determines the success of your shoot and in creating gorgeous pictures you and your family will treasure for all time.

The session fee gets all of this done. It pays for the creation to happen. It covers payment to assistants, the hair and make up artists, the groomer, the photographer to come and shoot the session, travel expenses, props and wardrobe for the shoot, and all the behind the scenes costs to make the session happen. (see the cost of photography blog post).
